Racism & Sexism in the Medical Field
Women Studies Research Project
Should women and minorities always trust their doctors? The answer to this question is not a simple yes or no because women and minorities are 20 to 30 percent more likely to be misdiagnosed compared to men. Although doctors go through years of medical training and are highly certified, sexism and racism are still present in the medical world in the form of misdiagnoses. This means that understanding unintentional bias and stereotypes is a necessary and lifesaving skill when a professional is involved in medical or clinical research and practice. This paper and poster will explain how and why women are misdiagnosed by taking a look into herstories, which talk about the personal experience's women have faced, and how the issue of sexism and racism impacts both women and men.

As a teenager who grew up with technology, it would be expected of me to love social media. Although I do enjoy being connected with all my friends and family, I also see problems that technology could create. I have done many hours of research in order to shed light on these potential problems. I have found data that provides evidence for the claim that social media is harming young adults. While researching the topic of if technology and social media are dangerous, I have organized evidence that concludes overuse and addiction to social media leads to negative effects on teenager's mental health, on their academic performance, and on their self- esteem.

I wanted to become a contact tracer so that I could give back to my community and help people in a time of need.
My responsibilities are to locate and talk with people, inform and assist patients to isolate themselves and work with patients to identify people who have been in close contact so that I can locate them. I am also responsible for checking up on patients to monitor their symptoms and quartine or isolation periods.
